About Us

Ensembles
Classical Magnet School has 3 active ensembles which are a Beginner Band open to anyone who has not played before (any grade). Middle School Band (grade 6-8) which requires a minimum of 1 year immediate prior experience, and a High School Band (grades 9-12) which requires a minimum of 1 year immediate prior experience. Please visit our Media Gallery to view our concerts or look at pictures of our groups. Currently we have over 80 students in our bands! We've had over a 25% growth every year for the last 4 years! The bands play 3 concerts, 3 parades, and home football games every year in addition to performing/competing at festivals.

Enrichment
The Band also has an afterschool Drum line that meets Monday and Wednesday during enrichment, 2:45-3:55 pm, with Mr. Carter. The Drum Line is an indoor drumline that plays at our Boys Varsity Basketball games and other special events.

We also boast a Middle School Jazz Band on M-W enrichments and a High School Jazz Band on T-Th enrichments.

Honors Bands
Every year for the past five years we have placed band students in the Northern Regionals Honors Band run by CMEA (Connecticut Music Educators Association). We have also sent students to the John Philip Sousa National Honors Band and the Northern Regional Flute Choir and Youth Honor Band Festival.
