How to help your child from the start Bassoon Basics |

The goal is that upon first attempt the student reach success making a sound on their instrument. With this goal in mind, please let your child's band director take them on this step. Once this first sound is achieved students often go home and practice making that sound for hours, sometimes to our chagrin. The "First Note" chapter is intended to give you examples of proper sound and it's production so you can help at this stage. A common word you will see and hear in conjunction with playing a wind instrument is Embouchure. An embouchure is the way the lips form to play an instrument.
